Founded in 1979, DC Electronics has been committed to the principles of continual improvement for over three decades. We’ve applied lean/kaizen practices not just to the production floor, but to the way information and materials flow throughout our organization. With such efficient systems, we can respond nimbly and thoroughly to complex prototype development and specialized engineering needs while ongoing customer support and order fulfillment remain prompt and error-free.
DC Electronics is an ideal choice for companies in a growth phase because of our speed, experience and adaptability. We’ll typically answer an initial email inquiry within minutes, and have someone onsite with a customer in a couple of days. We move swiftly but meticulously from concept to design to finished product.
In addition to in-house engineering and design, our overmolding and custom mold capabilities give us a strong advantage in performing quickly for our customers, and thoroughly exploring the best design options. DCE has five Newbury molding presses and a fully equipped machine shop that produces custom molds on demand.
The value of DCE’s knowledge comes from over thirty years working on innovative solutions to unique customer needs. Chances are good that whatever your specific challenges may be, we’ve already done the learning and experimentation necessary to come up with an immediate solution. And if yours is a particularly complex problem, we have the process and people in place to solve it, fast and efficiently.
DC Electronics is a tightly knit, team- oriented organization. Most of DCE's 325 employees have been with the company for at least seven years. We offer a profit sharing compensation package that gives employees a stake in the company’s success, and continuous learning is a proven part of our culture. Low turnover and highly trained employees translate to efficiency and product quality for our customers.
DCE is committed to world class quality in our manufacturing, but just as important is our commitment to making sure our customers get what they really need. Many suppliers will build a cable assembly to any customer design specifications, regardless of potential flaws in the design. DCE diagnoses problems at the quoting stage. Design analysis and a component spec check are a standard part of our quote process.
The consistent quality of workmanship we deliver is reflected in the company’s AS9100B certification. Workmanship and soldering techniques are Class 3. Overlapping Six Sigma processes ensure immediate defect detection. From process mapping to risk analysis we have the systems in place to support the level of quality our customers deserve, and we expect.
The first Gulf War was underway and soldiers in the field found themselves in desperate need of more handheld GPS devices. Trimble, the military’s GPS supplier, called DCE for help. Literally overnight, DCE ramped up production to supply Trimble with cables to meet a seemingly impossible demand.
Meeting challenges – error free and on time – is still what DCE does best. Back in 1979, when David Cianciulli left Hughes Aircraft to form his own cable sales and distribution business, service and quality were his watchwords. From the beginning DCE focused on high-level customers with exacting needs. Within a few years, the small, Silicon Valley supplier was hiring engineers and assembly people to design and produce custom cable systems for technical instrument manufacturers.
DCE quickly grew, establishing itself as a valuable resource for companies needing high-level engineering services and fast turnaround production capabilities. Over a dynamic 25 years in the Silicon Valley, DCE has financed its own growth and maintained a diverse customer base, staying strong through industry ups and downs.
Mr. Cianciulli’s original vision for DC Electronics endures today through the leadership of his son, David Cianciulli Jr., who now presides over the company.
Today, with a fully integrated production plant and 220 employees, DC Electronics continues to provide consistent quality and competitive cost solutions for the industry's most demanding manufacturers.
