Manufacturing Engineer

Responsible for technical support and sustaining engineering of the manufacturing department. Establishes operating equipment specifications, improves manufacturing techniques, and introduces new process equipment to production, improve current manufacturing processes and procedures; develop manufacturing plans and documentation to support new products; facilitate efficient operations within the production area to ensure production goals are met; analyze and solve problems from basic engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems and approves assembly instructions prior to release to manufacturing for production builds. Familiar with validation protocol (IQ, OQ, PQ) control plan, dFMEA pFMEA, and CpK data analysis. Maintain IPC-A620, ISO 13485, AS9100C and ISO 9001-2008 procedures.

• Design, develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, processes, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
• Ensure proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. Write and review validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes.
• Interfaces with estimators, applications engineering, and manufacturing to establish manufacturing plan for new products. Works directly with the engineering assembly line and other work center supervisors responsible for building first piece articles.
• Oversees the first time build process and approves assembly instructions. Verifies that bill of material, tooling, process steps, labeling, and packaging instructions are correct prior to submitting to Quality department for final inspection.
• Provides on-going technical assistance to all work centers and helps to resolve problems in order to keep work flow smooth. Follows through with Document Control to make necessary changes to Master Drawing documentation.
• Observes current manufacturing practices, and makes suggestions to management for process and productivity improvement. Oversees implementation of new procedures and verifies results of changes.
• Monitor performance of equipment, machines, and tools; correct equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues
• Creates manufacturing aids and assists in on-going operator training.
• Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field.
• Maintains reliable and regular work attendance.
• Resolve day-to-day production issues that may impede ability to ship quality products on time.
• Understanding and adherence to the Safety Codes of manufacturing.

• Excellent manufacturing engineering skills including math skills necessary for interpreting drawings and establishing dimensions for assembly instructions.

• BA or BS degree or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years related experience.
• High mix/low volume manufacturing experiences a plus.
